6 Pilgrims Killed In Fire At Hindu Festival In Mauritius

Port Louis, Mauritius:

Six pilgrims died in Mauritius on Sunday when a fireplace broke out throughout a spiritual ritual to mark a Hindu pageant, police stated.

The blaze erupted when a picket and bamboo cart displaying collectible figurines of Hindu deities caught hearth after coming into contact with uncovered electrical wires, police commissioner Anil Kumar Dip stated on nationwide tv.

“The accident claimed six victims and left seven injured, together with one who’s in severe situation,” he stated.

The pilgrims have been travelling on foot to the Grand Bassin lake, which is deemed sacred by the east African island nation’s Hindu group, forward of the Shivaratri pageant on March 8.
