The IPL 2025 season is all set to begin with a mouthwatering clash between two of the tournament’s founding members on Saturday, March 22. Kolkata Knight Riders are the defending champions, and they will face a pumped-up Royal Challengers Bengaluru side, with a new captain at the helm. This is a rematch of the opener from the very first season where KKR, powered by Brendon McCullum’s 158, thrashed RCB. The venue this time is Kolkata and the Eden Gardens, where rain is expected to play a major role in the contest.

The last couple of days have been far less ideal for both teams as they had to cancel their practice sessions on the eve of the opener due to rain. Rain and thunderstorms are expected to play a role on Saturday, but the biggest uncertainty has been trying to predict the weather in the city.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), it is expected to be a rainy day on Saturday. There was an orange alert that was issued ahead of the game by IMD, and it still remains the same in that aspect.

According to the latest update on Skymet, things do look good for cricket fans. While things are expected to be cloudy during toss time and the start of the game, the weather is expected to remain good and things should clear up.

Accuweather gives a whole different prediction at this point in time, suggesting that everything should be fine for the game to go forward without any interruptions. The rain possibility, which was earlier at the 70 percent mark, has reduced significantly, meaning we should have the game start at the right time.
