Sanju Samson and Rohan Bopanna turned a simple crossover challenge into complete sporting madness when cricket collided with tennis in The Role Reversal Challenge Part 1, a fun video uploaded by Wimbledon Championships on YouTube.
The concept itself was wild. Instead of conventional bowling, the bowlers had to serve the ball using a tennis racket, while the batter attempted proper cricket shots. What followed was chaos, laughter and some surprisingly serious competition.
Bopanna started with a wide before Samson eased into the challenge with a single. Once he found his rhythm, the Kerala batter showed off his elegant strokeplay with a huge six down the ground followed by a classy glance through fine leg for four. It looked like Samson was settling into tennis-cricket quite comfortably until Bopanna decided to crank up the heat.
The veteran tennis star suddenly unleashed a 101 kmph rocket that cleaned Samson up completely. If that wasn’t enough, Bopanna then produced an outrageous 131 kmph delivery that left Samson hopping around in discomfort and disbelief. Safe to say, the cricketer probably did not expect Wimbledon-level pace coming at him with a tennis racket.
Then it was Bopanna’s turn to bat, and the chaos continued. He missed the very first ball and was struck on the pads, but quickly bounced back by smashing boundaries all over the place. Samson managed one dot ball, but Bopanna still ended with four boundaries in his six-ball stay.
In the end, there was no real winner, except the fans, who got to watch two Indian sporting stars hilariously step into each other’s worlds.
