The weather could have the final say when India take on Ireland in the opening T20I in Belfast, with forecasts predicting intermittent showers during the match. While fans are eagerly waiting to see if teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi makes his senior international debut, rain could emerge as an unwanted talking point.

According to the BBC Weather forecast, light rain and cloudy conditions are expected through Friday, with the possibility of showers stretching across the afternoon and evening. Rain probability is expected to range between 30 and 43 per cent during the scheduled match hours, while temperatures are forecast to remain between 22 and 23 degrees Celsius.

IND vs IRE 1st T20I: SHOWERS, BUT NOT A WASHOUT

While the forecast points to frequent passing showers, it does not currently indicate prolonged heavy rainfall. Instead, there are expected to be several dry spells throughout the day, raising hopes that the opening T20I can be completed, even if there are rain interruptions.

The weather has remained changeable in Belfast over the past few days, making conditions difficult to predict. However, with only light winds forecast, the primary concern remains intermittent rain rather than severe weather.

IND vs IRE 1st T20I: ALL EYES ON TEAM SHEET

Even before a ball had been bowled, much of the conversation ahead of the series opener has centred around Sooryavanshi. The 15-year-old earned his maiden India call-up after a breakthrough IPL campaign, where his fearless stroke play against some of the world’s leading bowlers turned him into one of the country’s most exciting young prospects.

If selected, the Bihar batter will become the youngest cricketer to make an international appearance for India across both the men’s and women’s teams, adding another landmark to his meteoric rise.

India will be aiming to make a winning start to the three-match series against Ireland, while the hosts will look to make home advantage count. Both teams, however, will be hoping the forecast improves before the first ball is bowled.

As things stand, the weather is unlikely to force a complete washout, but passing showers could still interrupt proceedings and delay what could be a landmark day for one of Indian cricket’s brightest young talents.
