Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to field first. Delhi Capitals got off to a flier as they were 73-2 after 6 overs. However, some wickets in the middle phase and towards the end costed them 15-20 additional runs as they finished with 203-8 in 20 overs. Skipper Axar Patel was the top-scorer in the side with a 39 while Ashutosh Sharma played a crucial 19-ball 37 runs innings to help DC cruise past the 200-run mark.
Chasing a target of 204, Gujarat Titans had a shaky start as captain Shubman Gill was run out early. However, Jos Buttler and Sai Sudharsan steadied the innings with a vital partnership, taking GT to 67/1 by the end of the powerplay. After Sudharsan’s dismissal, Sherfane Rutherford chipped in with a valuable 43, providing strong support to Buttler. Though Buttler remained unbeaten and narrowly missed out on a century, Rahul Tewatia stepped up in the final over, smashing a six and a four off Mitchell Starc’s first two deliveries when 10 runs were needed, taking the team over the line.
