India and Delhi Capitals star-batter KL Rahul broke his bat in half while practicing his batting during the side’s nets session, which even prompted the side’s skipper Axar Patel making a hilarious “mongoose bat” joke out of the moment. In a recent video uploaded by DC’s official social media showed KL Rahul break his bat while batting, which then saw the Axar Patel take the broken bat and spark a banter with his teammate Tristan Stubbs.
While the within-team banter of DC in IPL 2025 has already left a lot of fans in laughs, Axar Patel humourously drawing similarity with KL Rahul’s broken bat with a handle-only mongoose bat has only added to the list. Rahul’s broken bat, was left snapped in the middle, and Axar introduced the top half of it as his new bat to Stubbs, and went on to joke about its familiarity with the mongoose bat.
Watch the video here:
The popular mongoose bat is specifically designed for aggressive batting in formats like T20, with a shorter blade and a longer handle, and with Rahul’s bat having broken in half with only a little piece left at the top with the handle, it looked uncannily similar to a mongoose bat.
KL Rahul has been polishing his batting up even in the nets session, which comes in a season that has seen him in tremendous form and often play match-winning role for his new side DC in the ongoing IPL 2025, most recently with his unbeaten 57 off 42 against Lucknow Super Giants.
On the other hand, Axar has also impressed many with his captaincy, his decision making this season for DC, but the 31-year-old has not left a moment to have a laugh.
