A day after calling out Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for his silence over the Pahalgam terror attack, former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria has now slammed his nation’s deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar for calling the terrorists ‘freedom fighters’. The terrorists launched a deadly attack on a popular tourist spot in Pahalgam on Tuesday (April 22), killing 26 people. The assault marked the deadliest in the Kashmir Valley since the 2019 Pulwama attack.

The Resistance Front (TRF), an affiliate of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), has claimed responsibility for the massacre. The incident has received widespread condemnation, with top leaders of the world raising their voices against terrorism.

However, much to everyone’s surprise, Ishaq Dar has bizarrely called them ‘freedom fighters’. The comment wasn’t received well by Kaneria, who termed his statement ‘disgraceful’ and stated that it was an open admission of harbouring terrorists.

“When the Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan calls terrorists “freedom fighters,” it’s not just a disgrace — it’s an open admission of state-sponsored terrorism,” wrote Kaneria on his X account.

Speaking to reporters in Islamabad, Dar had said, “Those who carried out attacks in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam district on April 22 might be freedom fighters”. Earlier, Kaneria also called out the Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif’s silence on the matter and accused him of ‘sheltering and nurturing terrorists.’
