Delhi Capitals will host defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, today, in the 48th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Delhi Capitals, led by Axar Patel, are currently at the 4th spot on the points table with 12 points from 9 matches.
On the other hand, the Knights, captained by Ajinkya Rahane, are going through a rough patch this season with only 3 wins in 9 games and are placed 7th on the points table.
Delhi is coming into this match after a defeat against RCB at their home ground, while KKR’s previous match against PBKS was washed out due to rain.
Last Encounter At Arun Jaitley Stadium
The last time both teams met at the Arun Jaitley Stadium was in IPL 2023, where Delhi Capitals registered their first win of the season after a five-match losing streak. Kolkata Knight Riders were bowled out for just 127 runs. Ishant Sharma, playing his first IPL match since 2021, delivered a Man of the Match performance with figures of 2 wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs. He was well-supported by Anrich Nortje, who also took 2 wickets, conceding just 20 runs in his 4-over spell.
Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav also took 2 wickets each in the middle overs, ensuring that the Knights couldn’t post a big total on the board.
Despite the low target of just 128 runs, it wasn’t an easy chase for the Capitals. KKR spinners Varun Chakravarthy, Anukul Roy, and Nitish Rana restricted the DC batters’ scoring rate and didn’t allow them to score freely. However, a crucial half-century from David Warner set up the chase, and Axar Patel stood firm till the end to finish the game in Delhi’s favour.
Delhi Capitals’ Home Grounds Over The Years
Delhi Capitals have two home grounds. Apart from the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, since 2024, they have also played matches at the VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam (Vizag). In the past, they had used the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium in Raipur as well, but they haven’t played any matches there since 2016.
Delhi will face KKR at the Arun Jaitley Stadium after 2 years, as in IPL 2024, both teams played against each other at Delhi Capitals’ secondary home ground, the VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam (Vizag).
