Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka shared a throwback picture of Vaibhav Suryavanshi from 2017, supporting his old team, Rising Pune Super Giants, in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Suryavanshi made a name for himself as he became the youngest centurion in the history of IPL with his breathtaking innings of 101 (38) for Rajasthan Royals (RR).
The 14-year-old clobbered seven fours and 11 sixes during his belligerent knock against Gujarat Titans (GT), etching his name in the record books. Following his innings, wishes poured in from all over the world for the teenage star as he set the tournament ablaze with his fiery innings.
Sanjiv Goenka also congratulated the youngster by sharing a throwback picture of Suryanshi in attendance at a Rising Pune Super Giants match with his father from 2017. The LSG owner thanked him for supporting his team in the past and extended his good wishes.
“Last night I watched in awe this morning I came across this photo of 6-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi cheering for my then team, Rising Pune Supergiant, in 2017. Thanks Vaibhav. Lots of good wishes and support,” wrote Goenka in a post on his X account.
Suryavanshi also registered the second-fastest hundred in the history of IPL, reaching the landmark in just 35 balls. His whirlwind knock is only behind Chris Gayle’s century off 30 balls, scored way back in 2013 for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Courtesy of his record-breaking innings, Suryavanshi helped Rajasthan chase down the target of 210 in 15.5 overs and win the match by eight wickets, bringing their five-match losing streak to an end.
He was deservedly adjudged Player of the Match for his sensational knock as he sent record books for a toss. The youngster has also become the youngest T20 centurion ever and is all set to leave the cricketing fraternity enthralled with his fearless strokeplay.
