MS Dhoni commented on his potential retirement and said that he has nothing decide as of now after CSK’s win over KKR. When Dhoni will finally call time on his career has been one of the talking points in the past few seasons of the IPL, and it has continued this time around as well.

Dhoni got a grand welcome at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday as there was a lot of yellow CSK jerseys in the crowd, cheering on the legendary wicketkeeper. Speaking at the post-match presentation, Dhoni commented on the love he got from the fans as many of them didn’t know when it will be his last year.

“I think that’s the love and affection I have got from the fans. Not to forget, I am 43 so I have played for a long time (chuckles). I feel most of them don’t really know when it will be my last year so they want to support me, watch me play,” said Dhoni.

When pressed about his potential retirement, Dhoni said that after the IPL he needs to work hard for another six to eight months to see if his body is able to take the pressure or not.

“It’s a two-month period and after that I need to work hard for another 6-8 months and see if the body will be able to take the pressure or not. Nothing for me to decide as of now,” said Dhoni.

‘Got a lot of things correct against KKR’

Dhoni and CSK were able to come away with a win from the Eden Gardens to end a four-match losing streak. The CSK skipper said that they were able to get a lot of things correct on the night. Dhoni also said that the aim was to be competitive and also look towards next year.

“It’s good to be on the winning side you know. We got a lot of things correct tonight and I can obviously get emotional about it because of the pride factor. I felt that what was important is that, we wanted to be practical about it. We wanted to fill in the 25 players in the squad. We want to be more competitive but also want to look into the next year. We also want to look into the right combinations, which bowler can bowl which overs according to the conditions. The batting order was not right earlier but now the intent is really good in the batters,” said Dhoni.

CSK will face RR next at the Chepauk on May 12.
