Neeraj qualified fifth from the preliminary round and will be joined by Rohit Yadav, who finished ninth, and Yash Vir Singh, who advanced in 10th place, giving India three finalists in the event.
There will be more medal opportunities in athletics, with Praveen Chithravel and Selva Prabhu contesting the men’s triple jump final after qualifying second and third respectively.
Tejaswin Shankar will resume his decathlon campaign after ending Thursday in 2nd place following the 100m, long jump, shot put, high jump and 400m events. The Indian all-rounder has five events left, including the pole vault, javelin throw and the concluding 1500m.
