Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez have finally made their long-awaited relationship official, tying the knot in a private ceremony in Portugal. The Portuguese football superstar and his longtime partner shared the news only through a simple picture of their wedding rings.

The 41-year-old Ronaldo, the Portugal and Al Nassr forward, and 32-year-old Spanish model Rodriguez got married in a civil ceremony in Cascais on August 11, with their five children present. The couple later shared a picture of their hands wearing wedding bands.

The post effectively confirmed what fans had been speculating about after spotting rings on both their fingers. Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano also confirmed the marriage, bringing an end to months of uncertainty around when the couple would actually exchange vows.

THE WEDDING RUMOURS HAD GONE WILD

Interestingly, the couple’s actual wedding came after a rather amusing false alarm.

Days before the wedding, rumours had suggested that Ronaldo and Rodriguez would marry at Funchal’s S Cathedral in Madeira, Ronaldo’s hometown. Hundreds of fans gathered outside the cathedral hoping to catch a glimpse of the couple, only to discover that the bride walking towards the altar was not Rodriguez.

Instead, a woman named Nicole arrived to marry her partner Fabio. Ronaldo himself appeared to see the funny side, responding to an Instagram post about the mix-up with a string of crying-with-laughter emojis.

Ronaldo’s family had also denied reports that the couple were getting married that weekend, while the footballer himself remained tight-lipped about when the ceremony would actually take place.

FROM GUCCI MEETING TO MARRIAGE

Ronaldo first met Rodriguez in 2016 when she was working at a Gucci store. The pair made their first red-carpet appearance together at the Best FIFA Football Awards in Zurich in January 2017 and later confirmed their relationship publicly.

Ronaldo admitted in Rodriguez’s Netflix series I Am Georgina that he did not expect their relationship to become so serious.

“I didn’t think at the beginning that this would be this strong, that I would fall in love with her,” he said. “I didn’t expect it, honestly. But after a while, I felt that she was the woman of my life.”

A FAMILY OF FIVE CHILDREN

The couple announced their engagement on August 11, 2025, exactly a year before their wedding. Rodriguez shared a photograph of her engagement ring and wrote: “S, quiero. En esta y en todas mis vidas.”

Ronaldo and Rodriguez share daughters Alana and Bella, while they also raise Ronaldo’s eldest son Cristiano Jr. and twins Eva Maria and Mateo. Their family suffered a devastating loss in 2022 when Bella’s twin brother, ngel, died shortly after birth.

After years of speculation, engagement rumours and even one very confused crowd outside a Madeira cathedral, Ronaldo and Rodriguez have finally said yes.
