Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez have finally given the world a glimpse of the wedding they kept almost entirely under wraps. Vogue has released the first photographs from the couple’s intimate ceremony at their home in Cascais, revealing a celebration that was a world away from the lavish affair many had expected.
The couple tied the knot on August 11, exactly 10 years after their first meeting at a Gucci store in Madrid, where Rodriguez was working as a sales assistant. Speaking to Vogue, Rodriguez explained why they chose a private ceremony at home instead of the grand wedding she once imagined.
“When I was little, I dreamed of the biggest castle, the grandest carriage, the longest dress, a crown full of diamonds,” Rodriguez told Vogue.
“Now I say: no. I want something intimate, with my partner and our children, at home. Because castles, houses, islands, horses, cars: we have all that within reach every day. But something intimate, that is much rarer for us,” she added.
The wedding took place at 1.30pm on August 11 at the couple’s Cascais home, with their five children present. Only four witnesses attended the ceremony, including Ronaldo’s longtime friend Miguel Paixo, Rodriguez’s sister Ivana Rodriguez, and friends Jose Rodriguez Sangil and Monica Gonzalez Martinez.
The couple had previously confirmed their marriage through Ronaldo’s Instagram, where he shared a photograph of them holding hands and showing off their wedding rings.
A WEDDING KEPT CLOSE TO HOME
The Vogue photographs, shot by Juergen Teller, offer the first detailed look at the ceremony and the moments surrounding it. Ronaldo opted for a light-coloured suit with a white shirt, while Rodriguez wore a white skirt-and-jacket combination with a matching shirt.
The couple also attended a mass to bless their union, while photographs show Rodriguez with their children. The shoot also captures her wearing Chopard jewellery by the pool and during exercise, alongside glimpses of her extensive shoe collection.
The ceremony was conducted under a separation-of-assets regime, according to details published by Vogue. For a couple whose lives are usually lived under a giant spotlight, the wedding was remarkably understated.
RONALDO OPENS UP ABOUT RETIREMENT
The wedding comes at a significant point in Ronaldo’s career, with the Portugal captain offering his clearest indication yet that the 2026-27 season could be his last.
“This is probably my last year of football, and I want to leave a spectacular legacy,” Ronaldo told Vogue.
The 41-year-old stopped short of announcing his retirement, but admitted he has already thought about life after football. He has scored 976 goals in 1,330 games for club and country and is just 24 short of reaching 1,000.
“I already have my entire future planned. I have so many things to keep me busy that it’s difficult to name just one,” he said.
Ronaldo also spoke about the void that football could leave behind, saying he wants to travel more, spend time playing padel and enjoy what he and his family have achieved.
“After all, it’s been 25 years with a lot of sacrifice,” Ronaldo said.
For now, he remains Portugal’s captain and a key figure for Al Nassr. But the timing of his comments, coming just days after his intimate wedding to Rodriguez, offers a glimpse of a player beginning to think seriously about what life might look like beyond football.
