Uttar Pradesh authorities have intensified flood relief and rescue operations across 13 districts, with 173 villages affected and 4,845 people shifted to safer locations as the state government keeps a close watch on rising river levels and vulnerable areas.The government has deployed 16 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) teams across the state, while 724 medical teams and 534 ambulances have been placed on duty for emergency response and healthcare services.The Relief Commissioner’s Office said 13,058 hectares of land and 84,362 people have been affected by the floods so far. The administration has established 1,589 flood outposts and prepared 1,263 flood shelters, of which 41 are currently in use and accommodating 1,045 people.
13 districts affected, river levels monitored
The affected districts are Badaun, Bahraich, Ballia, Barabanki, Bijnor, Farrukhabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Gonda, Kasganj, Lakhimpur Kheri, Muzaffarnagar, Sitapur and Unnao.The state government said the overall flood situation is currently under control, but several rivers are flowing at or above danger levels, prompting continued monitoring and preparedness in vulnerable districts.The Ghaghra near Elgin Bridge in Barabanki is flowing above the danger mark, while the Ganga has reached the danger mark at Kachhla Bridge in Badaun and Fatehgarh in Farrukhabad.The Sharda river at Palia Kalan and Shardanagar in Lakhimpur Kheri, and the Ghaghra at Ayodhya and Turtipar in Ballia, are also flowing around the danger mark.District administrations in these areas have been kept on alert, with officials instructed to monitor river levels and respond to any deterioration in the situation.Relief Commissioner Dr Hrishikesh Bhaskar Yashod reviewed the flood situation and ongoing relief and rescue operations on Tuesday. He directed district magistrates to move affected residents to relief camps or other safe locations wherever necessary.Officials have also been instructed to ensure adequate supplies of food, medical facilities and essential relief material, while keeping flood outposts operational.
Relief operations expanded across affected areas
The administration has deployed 428 boats and motor boats along with 1,101 local divers to support rescue operations.So far, 15,238 food-grain packets and 30,316 meal packets have been distributed among flood-affected people.The government has also directed officials to ensure adequate availability of rescue teams and equipment and to activate additional resources immediately if the situation requires.The Control Room at the Relief Commissioner’s Office is maintaining contact with district officials and monitoring information received from flood-affected areas. Complaints and requests received through the 1070 helpline are being acted upon, according to the government.
724 medical teams deployed
Healthcare arrangements have been strengthened in the affected areas, with 724 medical teams and 534 ambulances available across the state.Authorities said 19,406 people have received medical treatment so far, while anti-snake venom has been provided to 566 people.To support public health measures, 43,612 chlorine tablets and 23,476 ORS packets have been distributed. Larvicide has also been sprayed in 1,468 villages to help prevent mosquito-borne diseases.The administration has also made arrangements for livestock affected by the floods. According to the government, 6,067 animals have been affected so far.A total of 208 quintals of fodder has been distributed, while 11,465 sick animals have received treatment. More than 4.04 lakh animals have also been vaccinated.
NDRF, SDRF and PAC teams on standby
Sixteen NDRF teams have been deployed across Uttar Pradesh to deal with emergency situations. SDRF teams are operating in various districts, while PAC personnel have been deployed in 52 districts.The administration has been instructed to deploy additional rescue teams and resources wherever required.A joint team of the Uttar Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority and the United Nations Development Programme has also conducted field inspections in Basti, Siddharthnagar, Sant Kabir Nagar, Sant Kabir Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau and Ballia.The team reviewed flood shelters, model flood shelters, relief kits, rescue and relief teams and preparedness measures in affected villages.Ministers in charge and local public representatives have also been conducting field visits to assess the situation and relief arrangements.
140.52 crore SMS alerts sent
The state government has placed emphasis on early warnings and public communication as part of its flood management measures.

Information received from the districts is being used to track relief and rescue operations and identify areas requiring immediate intervention.The administration is also monitoring river water levels and maintaining the availability of boats, motor boats, rescue teams and other resources.With several rivers still at or above danger levels, authorities have kept vulnerable districts on alert despite describing the overall flood situation as under control.
