United Airlines is adding 10 new international destinations in its biggest global expansion yet, giving travelers more nonstop options to Europe and Asia beginning in 2027.

The new destinations include Okinawa, Japan; Toulouse and Marseille, France; Luxembourg City; Ibiza and Valencia, Spain; Terceira in Portugal’s Azores; Ljubljana, Slovenia; and Olbia and Catania in Italy.

Eight of the 10 cities will have no nonstop service from any other U.S. airline, United said in a news release Tuesday. The new routes will launch from United hubs in San Francisco, Washington, D.C. and Newark, beginning as early as March 2027.

San Francisco will get three-times-weekly service to Okinawa starting March 27, while Washington Dulles will begin daily flights to Toulouse on April 26. Newark will add eight of the new destinations, including daily service to Luxembourg beginning April 2.

United will also add three new routes to existing international destinations: Los Angeles to Osaka, Japan (starting March 27), Washington Dulles to Milan, Italy (May 28) and Denver to Paris, France (May 27).

The airline also plans to resume flights between San Francisco and Tel Aviv, Israel on March 28.

United will use its newest international aircraft, the Airbus A321XLR, to support several of its new European routes in 2027, including flights from Newark to Luxembourg, Ibiza, Valencia and Marseille, as well as Washington Dulles to Toulouse. The single-aisle aircraft features United Polaris suites with privacy doors, Economy Plus seating and other upgraded amenities.

The A321XLR is scheduled to begin international service on December 1, with flights from Washington Dulles to Amsterdam and Dublin. This will make Dulles the first of United’s hubs to operate the aircraft internationally. Tickets for those first international A321XLR flights are set to go on sale August 27.

“We aim to have a destination on our route map for every traveler, at every stage of their lives. Whether it’s a business trip, a dream honeymoon, a bucket-list adventure, or a trip home to see family, we’re making the world feel smaller and connecting cultures at a scale no other airline in the world can match,” Patrick Quayle, United’s Senior Vice President of Global Network Planning and Alliances, said in a statement.

“We’ve added flights to nearly 60 new international cities in the last decade, building a global network with the breadth and reach to set travel trends and inspire even the most discerning travelers to discover somewhere new. When someone visits our website or app to start planning a trip, they’ll be amazed by where United can take them,” Quayle added.
