Lukkhe Review: It is a gripping crime drama with strong performances, but rushed storytelling prevents it from reaching its full potential.

We have watched several films and shows regarding the drug nexus in Punjab and Prime Video’s latest show, Lukkhe, also revolves around the same with a slightly different approach. Created by Agrim Joshi and Debojit Das Purkayastha, the show stars King, Raashii Khanna, Palak Tiwari and Lakshvir Singh Saran among others. Set in Chandigarh, the show introduces us to Lucky (Lakshvir Singh Saran), who falls in love with Sannober (Palak Tiwari) in a rehab centre, only to discover later that her brother is behind the drug nexus, which is ruining several lives.
As Lucky slowly uncovers the dark truth behind the drug network, police officer Gurbaani (Raashii Khanna) gives him a chance to switch sides and help her bring down the drug empire. Their alliance adds both tension and emotional depth to the story, pushing Lucky into a dangerous battle.
But Lukkhe is not just Lucky’s personal journey. The series also dives into the rise of MC Badnaam (Sannober’s brother, played by King), exploring how circumstances dragged him into the world of drugs. His intense rivalry with OG (Shivankit Singh Parihar) becomes one of the show’s biggest highlights. As the two men attempt to destroy each other, the series keeps viewers constantly invested with its gripping confrontations and twists.
What Works For Lukkhe?
Set against the dark backdrop of drugs, crime and survival, the web series manages to keep viewers hooked with an engaging storyline that rarely loses momentum. The show comes packed with shocking twists and surprising moments that make the narrative impactful and worth binge-watching. Its gritty world feels alive and the makers successfully build tension through unpredictable developments.
The atmosphere of the show is also rap-heavy. However, it is good to see that the makers have not just inserted music for the sake of it. Rap fits naturally into the story instead of feeling forced or inserted just for style.
What Does Not Work For Lukkhe?
However, Lukkhe is not without flaws. One of the biggest issues with the show is the presence of too many subplots. It not only feels unnecessary but ends up creating confusion rather than depth. It also digresses the makers a lot of times from what they actually want the audience to focus on.
The second half of the show also appears rushed, as if several storylines were hurriedly wrapped up. Besides this, certain portions of the show look superficial too: the rehab centre resembles a luxury five-star hotel rather than a recovery facility. Even Lucky and Sannober’s relationship develops far too quickly to feel convincing.
What About The Cast?
Casting is one of the strongest factors to watch Lukkhe. It strongly works in favour of the show. Despite the absence of major stars, the ensemble delivers impressive performances. Lakshvir Singh Saran as Lucky emerges as the soul of the series. He carries emotional weight and intensity with remarkable confidence and is a delight to watch. Pat on his back for his dialect and dialogue delivery!
King also leaves a solid impact with a performance that is calm, restrained, yet fierce whenever needed. Raashii Khanna shines as Officer Gurbaani, a woman driven by deeply personal reasons to fight Chandigarh’s drug menace. With time, she emerges as one of the show’s strongest pillars. She might also remind you of Mona Singh from Kohhra 2.
Sadly, it is Palak Tiwari who struggles to leave a lasting impression as Sannober. It is largely because the character itself lacks proper development.
