There were mixed reactions on social media after seeing KL Rahul’s performance on Saturday, April 5 during the Chennai Super Kings vs Delhi Capitals clash as the Indian star scored his 38th IPL fifty. Rahul, who was playing his second match for his new franchise, came in as an opener for Delhi at the Chepauk stadium and was the best batter on the day for DC.

Before the game on Saturday, Rahul had played 6 matches in Chennai and scored 160 runs. With Faf du Plessis not available for the game, Rahul was promoted to the top as he came out alongside Jake Fraser-McGurk. However, the Australian failed to make any impact as he was dismissed in the first over for a duck.

Rahul was joined Abishek Porel in the middle and the southpaw was the aggressor in the partnership for a bit and scored 33 off 20 balls as Delhi got 51 in the powerplay overs. Once Porel fell, Rahul started to take the attack to the bowlers and once Axar Patel also fell after his cameo, the onus was on the wicketkeeper-batter to get going.

Rahul got to his fifty in 33 balls and saved the DC batting lineup from collapsing at one point. However, Rahul would slow down a lot towards the fag end of the innings and ended up with 77 off 51 balls and his knock consisted of 6 boundaries and 3 sixes.

DC’s innings came to an end at 183 for 6 in 20 overs.

Rahul’s innings certainly got the fans talking as many felt he was the only wicketkeeper-batter performing well at the moment. Many felt that Rahul should be considered for the T20 World Cup 2026 squad in India and Sri Lanka. However, others felt that Rahul slowing down did end up costing DC in the end. Here’s a look at the some reactions:
