Marking yet another viral moment, chess World Champion D Gukesh met the popular Canadian chess players and online streaming duo, Alexandra and Andrea Botez, and their new picture has yet again sparked a funny reaction from fans. As Gukesh gears up for the Paris leg of the Freestyle Chess Tour, the 18-year-old chess star posed awkwardly for a picture with the Botez sisters, which prompted fans on social media to start a meme fest.
The Botez sisters are popular for sharing pictures with chess stars. During the Germany leg of the Freestyle Chess tour, fans had already seen them create a social media meme-fest with a similar picture with Gukesh, saying how the chess star’s reaction looked like they had taken him “hostage”. However, this time it had a different touch. The Botez sisters gifted Gukesh with an AI-generated picture of him with bulked-up muscles, which did not leave Gukesh much amused by his reaction.
Previously, the Botez sisters had also staged a similar “hostage” photo with Gukesh’s idol and former World Champion Viswanathan Anand.
“Gukesh so happy to see us as always,” the caption of the post read.
D Gukesh will be eyeing a strong comeback in the Paris leg of the Freestyle Tour after ending the Germany leg without a single win. He will be competing in the exciting format along with other Indian chess stars like R Praggnanandhaa, Arjun Erigaisi and Vidit Gujrathi.
