Mitchell Marsh continued his golden run for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) as he scored his fourth half century of the season against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Tuesday, April 8 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. He played a blistering innings of 81 (48), clobbering six fours five sixes in his innings.
The all-rounder got the team off to a great start, adding 99 runs off 62 balls for the first wicket with Aiden Markram (47 off 28). During his innings, he also became the leading run scorer of the season so far as he climbed to the top of the Orange cap leaders board. Marsh now has 255 runs from five innings at an average of 63.75 and a strike rate of 180.85. The Australian has turned out to be the best value buy for his team as he was bought for Rs 3.4 crore by LSG.

He began his innings with three dot balls and finally got off the mark with a colossal 95-metre six against Spencer Johnson. After hitting his first boundary, Marsh played second fiddle to Aiden Markram, who further took on Johnson in the second over.
He finally broke free against Harshit Rana with another 90-metre maximum straight down the ground. The six-hitting fest continued in the following over as well, as he tonked him for a 97-metre six over deep mid-wicket and collected a boundary of the next delivery. He moved to 48 off 30 deliveries, whacking Varun Chakravarthy for a boundary and reached the landmark off 36 deliveries with another four against Rana.
After losing his opening partner Markram with 99 runs on the board, Marsh was joined by Nicholas Pooran at the crease and the duo launched an all-out attack. The opening batter began dealing in boundaries as none of the KKR bowlers were spared from his wrath. Marsh and Pooran added 71 runs for the second wicket off 30 balls as they took Lucknow’s score past 170. Marsh, unfortunately, fell 18 runs short of his maiden IPL century, getting holed out to deep point against Andre Russell as KKR finally got their second success.
