Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) clinched a narrow 2-run win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) on their home turf in a thrilling contest.

Once again, Rajasthan stumbled in the final over – this time falling short of chasing 9 runs, similar to their previous collapse against Mitchell Starc.

Avesh Khan, the star of the final over, bowled a sensational spell but suffered a hand injury while fielding. His condition had the LSG camp worried – until the bowler himself offered clarity after the match.

Avesh Khan on His Injury

With 9 runs needed in the last over, Avesh gave away just 6 runs and claimed a wicket. On the final delivery, Shubham Dubey struck a powerful straight drive that hit Avesh’s hand. He appeared to be in serious pain and was attended to immediately by the physio, with a bandage wrapped around his hand. However, he later removed it himself.

Speaking about the incident post-match, Avesh said, “My hand is fine. For a moment, I genuinely thought my hand was broken. It felt like a bone injury, which is why I couldn’t even celebrate.”

Match-Winning Spell

Chasing 181, Rajasthan Royals managed only 178 runs in their 20 overs. Avesh played a key role with the ball, picking up 3 wickets for 37 runs and holding his nerve in the pressure-packed final over. For his match-winning performance, he was named Player of the Match.

Despite the injury scare, Avesh’s post-match comments were a big relief for Lucknow, who continue their strong run in IPL 2025.

Pant’s Lucknow Super Giants climbed into the top four of the IPL 2025 points table after edging out Rajasthan in a thrilling contest on their home ground in Jaipur. The star of the night, Avesh Khan, also responded to comparisons with Australian pace spearhead Mitchell Starc.

Speaking after the match, Avesh said, “I don’t want to be Mitchell Starc. I just want to be the best version of Avesh Khan. Yorkers are my strength, and I focus on executing them well. When I bowl with a clear mind, I get the results I want. I don’t look at the scoreboard; I just make sure I don’t give away boundaries in the first three balls.”
