“Being a case of emergency and critical situation, he was referred to Nagaon Medical School and Hospital and once more to the Guwahati Medical School and Hospital on April 20, the place he succumbed to the sickness and was declared useless,” sources mentioned.

The official was the only incomes member within the household and is survived by his spouse and son. They have been depending on him.

On April 30, Kumar obtained an e mail from his spouse, Janata Chorong Borah.

She requested that reimbursement of the bills incurred on the ambulance and the disbursement of the ex gratia quantity the polling official was entitled to be processed and supplied to her.

Whereas paying attention to the e-mail, CEC Kumar, with none delay, directed the Chief Electoral Officer, Assam, to make sure that all mandatory medical reimbursements and ex gratia funds be disbursed inside two days on humanitarian grounds, because the polling officer was the only incomes member of their household.

The official was an Agricultural Extension Assistant within the Workplace of the District Agriculture Officer, Hojai.

He was appointed because the First Polling Officer at Jamuna Moudanga Krishipam Nigam 2 No Muktab (East Half) within the Binnakandi meeting constituency of the Kaziranga Lok Sabha seat.

The primary part of Lok Sabha polls was held on April 19.
