Glenn Maxwell’s IPL struggles persisted as his Punjab Kings (PBKS) return began with a first-ball duck against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the fifth match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) on March 25 (Tuesday) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. With the duck, Glenn Maxwell earned himself an unwanted title, surpassing the likes of Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik in an unwanted IPL record list.

The Australian star all-rounder now holds the record for the most ducks in IPL history, surpassing Dinesh Karthik and Rohit Sharma with his 19th. Notably, Maxwell’s last two IPL innings have both ended in first-ball ducks, including his final outing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL 2024 season. Five of Maxwell’s 19 ducks have come in his last 10 IPL innings.

Facing R Sai Kishore after Azmatullah Omarzai’s dismissal in the first innings of the PBKS vs GT IPL 2025 match, Maxwell attempted a reverse sweep on the very first delivery but was trapped LBW. Replays revealed that the ball would have missed the stumps, but Maxwell opted not to review and walked off after a golden duck.
