Maxwell had a disappointing run in IPL 2025 before his injury. In 7 matches, he managed just 48 runs at an average of 8 and a strike rate of 97.96.
With the ball, he took 4 wickets at an average of 27.50. His form had already been under scrutiny, and now the injury has ended his season prematurely.
Despite Maxwell’s exit, Punjab Kings remain in the playoff race. They have played 9 matches so far, winning 5, losing 3, and seeing one match washed out.
With 11 points and a net run rate of +0.177, they are currently fifth in the points table. To secure a spot in the top four, they will likely need to win at least 3 of their remaining 5 matches.
