Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) registered a historic feat in Indian Premier League (IPL) history as they became the first team to have 20-plus wins against three different opponents. The Ajinkya Rahane-led side beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 80 runs at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata and registered their second win of the season.
It was also their 20th victory over the Hyderabad-based franchise from 29 matches played between the two sides. KKR have now won five matches on the trot against last season’s runner-ups. Apart from SRH, they also have 20-plus wins against Punjab Kings (21 wins) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (21 wins) as well.

As a result, they became the first team to achieve the unique feat of beating three teams over 20 times in the history of the IPL. Venkatesh Iyer played a key role in his team’s victory as he finally bounced back to form after a string of low scores and played a breathtaking innings of 60 (29), smashing seven fours and three sixes.
Courtesy of his innings, Iyer was finally able to shut down the critics who were after him due to his poor form, especially after being sold for a whopping Rs 23.75 crore in the mega-auction. Apart from him, youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi also played a sublime knock of 50 (32) with the help of five fours and two sixes.
KKR were given the perfect finish to their innings by Rinku Singh, who clobbered 32 off just 17 balls, whacking four fours and a six. Rinku and Venkatesh added 91 runs for the fifth wicket off 41 deliveries to help KKR post 200/6 in their allotted 20 overs.
In reply, SRH were bundled out for just 120 in 16.4 overs as Vaibhav Arora (3/29) and Varun Chakravarthy (3/22) picked up three wickets each. Following their win, KKR climbed to the fifth spot in the points table with two wins from four matches.
