Punjab Kings (PBKS) surged to the second spot on the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 points table after their convincing victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 1. The win continued PBKS’s strong start to the season, leaving LSG in the sixth position after suffering their second loss in three matches.
The clash at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow turned out to be another disappointing outing for LSG, marked by a lacklustre batting performance and yet another failure from skipper Rishabh Pant. Despite playing at their home ground, LSG managed only 171 runs, falling short of putting up a competitive total.
PBKS, on the other hand, made light work of the chase. Prabhsimran Singh played a pivotal role with his stellar 69-run knock, setting the foundation for the run chase. Skipper Shreyas Iyer, leading from the front, remained unbeaten on 52, while Nehal Wadhera provided solid support with his unbeaten 43. The duo ensured PBKS chased down the target comfortably.
