Kolkata Knight Riders have made two changes as they handed a debut to Rovman Powell for their clash against Punjab Kings at the Eden Gardens on Saturday, April 26. Powell has replaced Moeen Ali in the lineup as Chetan Sakariya also comes into the team for the match at the Eden Gardens. Punjab, on the other hand, have brought back Glenn Maxwell into their lineup.
Powell, who was the West Indies T20I skipper until recently, was handed the cap before the game. The West Indian batter is known for his hard-hitting shots and has scored 360 runs in 27 matches, scoring one fifty and having a strike-rate of 147.54. Powell comes into the team as KKR’s middle-order has been struggling this season for form.
The likes of Rinku Singh, Andre Russell have failed to make a mark as finishers for the team. KKR also dropped Ramandeep Singh from the lineup, as he has struggled for form as well. Maxwell and Azmatullah Omarzai come into the team for PBKS, who have dropped Marcus Stoinis and Xavier Bartlett for the game against KKR. Maxwell has failed with the bat so far for PBKS as he has scored 41 runs in 6 matches.
PBKS won the toss and opted to bat first at the Eden Gardens.
