Joe Jonas has revealed a new tattoo on the back of his neck, which several fans believe pays homage to his wife, Sophie Turner, in a sweet and symbolic way.
On Tuesday 13 October, Nal, a tattoo artist based in Los Angeles who is known for his minimalist designs, shared a photograph of Jonas’ new tattoo on Instagram.
The tattoo, which was inked on the back of the singer’s neck, features a keyhole design, through which a face can be seen peering through.
After Jonas shared the picture on his Instagram Story, several of his fans speculated over the meaning of the artwork.
Some expressed their belief that the face in the keyhole looked like Turner, who recently gave birth to their first child, a baby girl called Willa.
“Is that Sophie? Lol that genuinely looks like her,” one person said.
“Is that……. Sophie?! IT LOOKS INSANE!!!” another commented, while another remarked: “Okay this is the sweetest thing ever.”
Someone else commented that the tattoo showed Turner is “always watching his back”.
Other Instagram users compared the tattoo to famous pieces of art, with one person saying the design reminded them of the artworks by Belgian surrealist artist René Magritte.
However, another person said that the face in the keyhole looked like the face of Lina Cavalieri, as famously depicted by Italian artist Piero Fornasetti and featured on numerous domestic objects including crockery and furniture.
In July when Jonas and Turner announced the birth of their daughter, a spokesperson for the couple said in a statement: “Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are delighted to announce the birth of their baby.”
The couple married in a Las Vegas ceremony in May 2019, before holding a second ceremony a month later in France.
