Mahindra Group has announced a key realignment of its senior leadership, appointing experienced internal candidates to lead its automotive, farm equipment, and logistics businesses.
Hemant Sikka to lead Mahindra Logistics
Hemant Sikka, currently serving as president of the Farm Equipment Sector (FES), has been appointed MD and CEO of Mahindra Logistics Ltd (MLL), following approval from the MLL Board. He will succeed Ram Swaminathan, who is stepping down to explore other professional avenues.
In a statement, the company said, “Hemant is one of our top leaders and brings with him a powerful combination of strategic skills, operational rigour, customer centricity and people leadership capabilities. We believe that MLL has tremendous potential for growth and value creation and are committed to realising this potential.”
Veejay Nakra to head farm equipment business
Veejay Nakra, currently president of Mahindra’s Automotive Division, will move to lead the Farm Equipment Business (FEB), one of the group’s most profitable units, with a return on capital employed (ROCE) of over 60 per cent. Nakra joined the group in 1995 and is credited with turning around the auto business and driving successful product launches.
Hemant Sikka and Veejay Nakra’s appointments will be effective from 5th May 2025.
The company sees “a huge opportunity to grow the business profitably through tractors, farm machinery and globalisation.” Nakra will continue to report to Rajesh Jejurikar.
R Velusamy to lead integrated auto division
R Velusamy, currently President of Automotive Technology and Product Development, will now assume leadership as President of the Automotive Business, which will integrate both SUV and LCV (under 3.5 tonnes) segments. He will assume the charge from January 2026. The expanded role brings full profit and loss responsibility across the division.
Velusamy, who joined Mahindra in 1996, has played a key role in powertrain development and the launch of several internal combustion engine (ICE) models and electric vehicles.
The Automotive Business has seen significant growth and success in all its segments over the last few years, the company said in a press release, adding that the integrated structure aims to build greater agility and collaboration in product development and go-to-market execution.
Dr Anish Shah, Group CEO and MD of Mahindra & Mahindra, said the appointments reflect the group’s depth of talent and commitment to driving sustained growth.
“These leadership changes ensure that we have strong, proven leaders at the helm of our key businesses. Their experience will enable us to drive significant growth and create greater value for our customers and shareholders. We thank Ram for his contributions to the company, and wish Hemant, Veejay, and Velu the very best for the journey ahead,” he said.
