Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) dropped a massive hint on fast bowler Mayank Yadav before their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash against five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday, April 27 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.
On Saturday, April 26, LSG dropped a video on their social media account as a build-up to the clash against MI where Mayank can be seen in the Lucknow jersey.
Captioning the video, LSG wrote, “Kal dikhega tabadtod andaz”, which roughly translates to “Tomorrow, a fierce style will be seen.”
Mayank hasn’t played any form of cricket since India’s T20I series against Bangladesh back in October 2024. The speedster, however, recovered from his back and toe injuries, and rejoined the LSG squad before the clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on April 19.
In LSG’s previous match against Axar Patel’s Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 22 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, Mayank was one of their Impact Player options.
However, the Super Giants preferred young batter Ayush Badoni over Mayank after subbing out Mitchell Marsh. It now remains to be seen if Mayank takes the field against MI, as LSG are still some distance away from qualifying for the playoffs.
Last year, Mayank burst onto the scene as one of the fastest bowlers India have ever produced. In one of the matches against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Mayank clocked a staggering 156.7 kmph.
He also won back-to-back Player of the Match awards against Punjab Kings (PBKS) and RCB. But the pacer’s campaign was cut short due to injury after only three games when where he picked up seven wickets at an economy rate of 6.98.
The Super Giants are currently placed sixth in the table with 10 points and a net run rate of -0.054 thanks to wins in five out of nine games. But they would want to make amends for their eight-wicket loss to the Capitals.
