Ambati Rayudu feels that MS Dhoni is already thinking about building the CSK team for next season after IPL 2025 campaign is slowly coming to a premature end. The loss to SRH on Friday, April 25 was their seventh loss of the season and their fourth one at home. While CSK still retain a mathematical chance of reaching the play-offs, it does seem like they will need to look ahead to the 2026 season..
Dhoni was vocal about this after their loss to MI recently and Rayudu feels that the team will be vigilant about evolving with the game. The former CSK man admitted that the 2025 season has been the lowest of lows for the five-time IPL Champions and will act as a great learning curve for the franchise.
“I know it’s the lowest of lows, but it’s also a great learning for CSK. If you rest on your laurels and don’t keep an eye on the future, this is what can happen. From here on, they’ll be very, very vigilant about evolving with the game. Even MS Dhoni has acknowledged that the game has moved on, and I’m sure he’s already thinking about building a team for next year,” said Rayudu.
‘Sometimes a season like this can ground a team’
Rayudu feels that there have been a few positives for CSK in the SRH game as the form of Ayush Mhatre and Dewald Brevis was great for the side. The former Indian batter feels that a season like this can ground a team and show them that the game is always bigger than them.
Rayudu feels that CSK has to stick to their basics and remain humble.
“We’ve seen some shining lights in the batting line-up, particularly Brevis and Mhatre – those are real positives. Sometimes, it takes a season like this to ground a team and remind them that the game is always bigger than us. You have to stick to the basics and stay humble,” said Rayudu on JioStar.
CSK will play their next game against PBKS on April 30.
