Finnish tire maker Nokian Tyres stated on Friday it might briefly lay off 350 staff at its automotive tire manufacturing unit in Nokia for 90 days resulting from political strikes within the Nordic nation.
Finland’s industrial, logistics and electrical staff stated on Wednesday they’d prolong an ongoing two-week strikes by one week in protest in opposition to deliberate authorities labour reforms and welfare cuts.
Nokian Tyres stated in an announcement inventories have been filling up because the strikes, which have an effect on ports and transportation, have meant it can not ship to clients.
It is going to lay off the staff from March 26 to April 9.
“Nokian Tyres will adapt manufacturing on the Nokia passenger automotive tire manufacturing unit in Finland for no less than two weeks,” the corporate stated. “Manufacturing of heavy tires will proceed in Nokia as regular.”
