The Prime Minister’s address comes at a time Covid cases are on the wane after a deadly surge in April-May and parts of the country are emerging from strict lockdowns.
Reports suggest PM Modi will speak on his government’s vaccination policy, which has been criticized by states and experts.
The Centre’s decisions on vaccines were fell short when India was devastated by the scale of Covid cases in the second wave in March-April. The government had to pause exports of Covid shots under its “Vaccine Maitri” programme and scrambled to procure more doses to tackle shortage in the country as it widened vaccinations to all adults.
The slow roll-out has become a big concern as experts warn of a third wave of Covid.
