Rohit Sharma was in awe of Vaibhav Suryavanshi after the young left-hander scored a stupendous century for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2025 match on Monday, April 28 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Suryavanshi scored 101 runs off 38 balls, laced with seven fours and 11 sixes as the Royals chased down a stiff target of 210 with 25 balls to spare. After the match, Rohit dropped a post on his Instagram story, praising Suryavanshi for his incredible showing.
“Class,” wrote the 37-year-old Rohit on the social media platform.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi shines in Jaipur
Suryavanshi put on a partnership of 166 runs for the opening wicket off 11.5 overs along with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who made a 40-ball 70. En route to his hundred, Suryavanshi smashed a plethora of records, becoming the youngest batter to hit a fifty and a century in T20s.
He reached his fifty off 17 balls, after which he brought up his hundred off 35 balls. The teenager also notched the second-fastest hundred in IPL history, with only Chris Gayle’s 30-ball century back in 2013 over him.
In three matches in IPL 2025, Suryavanshi has scored 151 runs at an average of 50.33 and a strike-rate of 215.71. His knock on Monday made sure that the Royals stayed alive in the competition with four matches left in the league stage.
As far as Rohit is concerned, he has been in sensational form for the Mumbai Indians (MI), who have won six matches on the trot in the tournament.
Rohit has notched 240 runs from nine matches at an average of 30 and a strike-rate of 156.86 with a top score of 76 not out against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 20 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
