Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bounced back in the Indian Premier League (IPL) season 2025 with a commanding five-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on March 27 (Thursday) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. With the win, LSG put behind the scars of their crushing defeat against the same team in IPL 2024. LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka was visibly relieved as he elatedly hugged LSG captain, Rishabh Pant on the field after the team’s dominant win.

LSG overhauled SRH’s 190-run target in just 16.1 overs. This win carried added significance for LSG, recalling their crushing 2024 defeat when SRH chased 154 in just 9.4 overs—a loss that not only dented their pride but also triggered controversy, as team owner Sanjiv Goenka’s animated discussion with then-captain KL Rahul drew a lot of criticism and possibly led to Rahul’s exit from the franchise.
