SRH vs GT: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) owner Kavya Maran was visibly frustrated after Abhishek Sharma lost his wicket during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash against Gujarat Titans (GT) on April 6 (Sunday), at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. SRH, the runners-up in the last IPL season, faced their fourth successive defeat as the Shubman Gill-led GT handed them a seven-wicket defeat.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s explosive batting, something that became their trademark in the IPL 2024, has been underfiring in the IPL 2025. After posting 286 in their season-opener against Rajasthan Royals, SRH have failed to cross the 200-mark in all their remaining matches so far. Their batting, comprising big-hitters like Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Reddy have collectively failed.

Abhishek, who SRH retained for INR 14 crore for his impressive performances last season, has yet to score a fifty. He scored just 18 runs before he was dismissed by Mohammed Siraj in the fourth over of SRH’s batting innings against GT. Abhishek Sharma’s dismissal sparked a notable reaction from SRH owner Kavya Maran, who appeared visibly displeased in the stands. Her annoyed expression quickly went viral on social media.

Siraj, Gill & Washigton Shine For GT

Sunrisers Hyderabad were put in to bat first after losing the toss and got off to a mixed start. Travis Head struck two boundaries but was dismissed off the final delivery of the opening over. His partner Abhishek Sharma began cautiously and scored 18 off 16 balls before falling to a risky shot. Despite the early setbacks, SRH posted 152/8 in their 20 overs, thanks to handy contributions from Nitish Kumar Reddy (31), Heinrich Klaasen (27), and Pat Cummins (22*). For Gujarat Titans, Mohammed Siraj starred with four wickets, while Sai Kishore and Prasidh Krishna claimed two each.

In reply, GT chased down the 153-run target comfortably in just 16.4 overs, led by a composed unbeaten 61 from captain Shubman Gill. Washington Sundar (49) and Sherfane Rutherford (35*) chipped in with crucial support to seal a dominant seven-wicket win.
