On the evening of April 25, the Chepauk ground will witness a high-voltage clash as Sunrisers Hyderabad takes on Chennai Super Kings, a match that could decide both teams’ playoff hopes.
With both sides struggling near the bottom of the points table – CSK with 2 wins from 8 matches and SRH in a similar predicament – victory is imperative to stay alive in the race.
For either team, a loss in this encounter will almost end their playoff dreams. Chennai, even if they win all their remaining matches, would still only reach 14 points. Similarly, if SRH faces defeat, their maximum possible points would be 14, which isn’t enough to guarantee a playoff spot. A thrilling match awaits, where the loser will see their playoff hopes all but vanish.
CSK vs SRH Toss Update
Sunrisers Hyderabad have won the toss and have opted to field.
What captains said…
Pat Cummins: We gonna have a bowl first. Chennai is always a big game, coming off a couple of loses but it is a new venue and boys are up for it. If the wicket is good, backing them to get a big total and otherwise also, backing them to do well. The pitch looks a little bit dry.
MS Dhoni: Dew was the main reason why we also wanted to bowl first. Almost in all the departments when you are not playing good cricket, chances are there will be pressure on the other guys as well. We want to get the process right and that is what we are looking to aim for the rest of the games. We are looking at one game at a time and we are looking at few combinations and have confidence in your ability and execute what you want to. We are not too sure how the wicket is.
