Sir Keir Starmer has mentioned that the situation of rental flats owned by a Labour MP is “unacceptable”.
The BBC discovered flats owned by Jas Athwal, the Labour MP for Ilford South, contained soiled communal areas, lights that didn’t work and fireplace alarms hanging unfastened from the ceiling.
Mr Athwal mentioned he was “shocked and sickened” by the state of the flats and has since sacked the company which manages his rental flats.
