Star Australia batter Travis Head has opened up about his love-hate relationship with Indian fans, saying that it doesn’t spur him on any more. Head has been India’s nemesis in recent times courtesy of his match-winning performances in the World Test Championship 2023 final and the ODI World Cup 2023 final.
He also finished as the highest run scorer of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Australia and played a pivotal role in Australia’s 3-1 series win. Recently, Head opened up about his relationship with Indian fans after giving them several heartbreaks in the last two years. The southpaw said that he’s been fortunate enough to play well in a couple of games and finds the discourse on social media funny.
“I take it as it comes. I respect the fact that India is such a big country with such big following. I’ve been very fortunate to play well in a couple of games. It’s not in my nature so I guess I play it up in a jovial way. Some of the stuff that comes out, I find it funny in terms of Australia vs India or the result or my performance, it doesn’t spur me on anymore. I just go and try to enjoy myself, play well,” Head told News18.
Furthermore, he also mentioned how India have also given it back to Australia on the cricket pitch through some recent performances.

“I’ve been put in a position against India quite a few times in the last 18 months and been able to play well but on the same note, they’ve played well against us a few times too. So I definitely feel that relationship with the fans,” added Head.
Meanwhile, Head is once again in top form in the ongoing IPL 2025 being the fifth-highest run scorer of the season so far. He has accumulated 136 runs from three innings at an average of 45 and a strike rate of 191.54. He scored a breathtaking 67 (31) in the opening game against Rajasthan Royals, followed by an innings of 47 (28) against Lucknow Super Giants in the second fixture. The explosive opener will look to continue his form in the upcoming fixure against KKR and help his team bounce back to winning ways.
