Tihar Jail administration has come into action to ensure the security of murder accused wrestler Sushil Kumar, who was sent on 14-day judicial custody on Wednesday.

The 2-time Olympic medallist has been lodged in Tihar’s Mandoli jail and he faces threat for his life from gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Sampat Nehra.

Keeping in mind the threats to Sushil’s life, Bishnoi has been shifted to high security ward of Tihar Jail No. 1. Nehra will also be shifted from Mandoli Jail to Tihar Jail on Monday.

The 2 gangsters arrested under MCOCA were recently shifted to ward number 4 of Mando Jail number 15. Sushil is locked in cell number 1 of the same ward.

CCTV cameras are being used and personnel of paramilitary force are guarding the 38-year-old’s ward round the clock.

Notably, Sushil is on the hit list of gangsters like Kala Jathedi, Lawrence Bishnoi and Sampat Nehra after the death of Sagar Rana in the May 4 brawl at the Chhatrasal Stadium.

Sushil and his associates have been accused of abducting Sagar from his house in Model Town to teach him a lesson for bad-mouthing him in front of other wrestlers, police had said. Sushil, according to the police, even told a guy named Prince to make a video of the incident and wanted it to go viral in his community so that nobody else dares to offend the veteran wrestler.

The death of Sagar Rana and the alleged involvement of Sushil in the murder case has brought to the fore the ugly wrestler-criminal nexus in Delhi’s underworld.
