Barcelona continued their domination in the early days of LaLiga’s 2026-17 season, scoring 5 goals past Valencia away from home. The win continued Barcelona’s perfect start to the season, where they have won all of their 4 games so far.
The 5 goals, scored Lamine Yamal (2), Fermin Lopez, Raphinha and Pedri also meant that Barcelona were upto 17 goals in the ongoing season.
And it is not just the numbers that have been impressive. Barcelona have looked in complete control of their matches, with Hansi Flick’s side producing another ruthless attacking display to brush aside Valencia 5-0 on Sunday.
FERMIN, YAMAL SHINE FOR BARCELONA
Fermin Lopez was at the heart of the demolition job, scoring once and setting up two more as Barcelona took control almost immediately. Lamine Yamal opened the scoring inside six minutes, lifting his effort over Valencia goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski from a tight angle after being picked out by Fermin.
The young forward was involved again later in the match, but before that it was Fermin’s turn to make the headlines.
Anthony Gordon’s pass found Fermin on the edge of the box and the midfielder drilled a powerful effort from 18 yards into the net in the 22nd minute. Barcelona went into the break with a comfortable two-goal advantage and showed little sign of letting Valencia back into the contest.
Fermin then turned provider once again after the restart. Yamal found space behind the Valencia defence before Fermin collected the pass and squared the ball across the six-yard box, where Raphinha arrived to tap home in the 50th minute.
Barcelona continued to create chances almost at will, with Valencia struggling to cope with the movement and intensity of the visitors.
‘ALMOST A PERFECT GAME’
“He (Fermin) has a lot of energy and intensity,” Flick said after the match. “He gets into the box, he is very dangerous and he can score goals. Without the ball, he always presses and tries to win it back.”
Pedri added Barcelona’s fourth in the 79th minute, calmly slotting the ball into the net after another period of sustained pressure.
There was still time for Yamal to complete his brace. The Barcelona youngster swept home from close range to cap another emphatic performance and take his team’s LaLiga goal tally to 17 in just four matches.
“We played a great game, almost perfect,” Flick said. “We had control, we dominated. That’s what I want from the team, control the game, create spaces and, if it’s possible, to score.”
Barcelona now sit at the top of the LaLiga table with 12 points from four matches, two ahead of second-placed Alaves, who also enjoyed a high-scoring victory, beating Osasuna 5-2.
For Valencia, it was a miserable afternoon. They remain rooted to the bottom of the table with just one point from their opening four games, while Barcelona continue to set the pace at the other end.
Four matches, 17 goals and a perfect start. Flick’s Barcelona are wasting little time in showing that they intend to be a force again this season.
