Bogot:

9 Colombian troopers died Monday when their helicopter crashed within the northern Bolivar division, the place the army is battling the largest cocaine cartel, authorities mentioned.

The crash occurred because the helicopter was delivering new troops for operations towards the Gulf Clan, President Gustavo Petro mentioned on X.

Neither Petro nor the army talked about the reason for the crash of the Russian-made Mi-17 helicopter or whether or not the Clan, with some 4,000 armed fighters, had something to do with it.
