If there’s one thing I treasure in this world, it’s a girls’-trip movie written by two men, and that’s exactly what writer-directors Jon Lucas and Scott Moore have delivered to us in the form of Spa Weekend. The movie stars Michelle Buteau, Isla Fisher, Leslie Mann, and Anna Faris as a wacky bunch of gals on vacation, and getting to watch this movie in an air-conditioned theater is, if nothing else, a welcome respite from the sweltering heat and humidity consuming Los Angeles right now.

Below, find quite literally every thought I had about Spa Weekend:

  1. There they are! The names of the two men who wrote this movie!
  2. And the four women who star in this movie!
  3. I do love a Now and Then-style childhood flashback.
  4. “Three blonde women and Michelle Buteau” is so Hollywood-diversity-coded (although, listen, I always want to see Michelle Buteau, no matter how many blonde women she’s surrounded by).
  5. Leslie Mann is a lawyer!
  6. Ah, the endearing conceit of a super-hot woman who can’t fathom that someone is asking her out (because she’s very focused on her job, calendar, etc.).
  7. Yay! Anna Faris!
  8. I was an assistant for amazing women, not horrible men like Anna Faris is, but I still get full-body shivers at the phrase “anticipate needs.”
  9. Ugh, divorce is hard.
  10. But it’s also good!
  11. Cishet husbands, on the other hand…
  12. Oh, JK, it’s an uncle. They’re allowed to be useless.
  13. Ooh, pastries!
  14. Where’s the fourth friend?
  15. Anna Faris, I love you almost as much as I hate your ex.
  16. That said, not even for Anna Faris would I go to a murder-mystery dinner party.
  17. I’m not “the expensive babysitter,” am I?
  18. My friend Winnie did say I need to raise my prices, but it feels audacious to charge more than $20 an hour to watch Netflix while someone’s child sleeps.
  19. God, I want to be at a spa right now.
  20. Sorry, I missed about five minutes’ worth of movie while I was booking myself a sauna and cold plunge session.
  21. Are we still making “lady boner” jokes in 2026?
  22. However, jokes about how women love free products still hit.
  23. Genuinely!
  24. Not for nothing did I steal a pair of hotel slippers from a Vrbo last weekend!
  25. I would love for Michelle Buteau to be given fewer lines about twerking…in, again, 2026.
  26. Hey, it’s Isla Fisher!
  27. I think!
  28. She’s still far away.
  29. Okay, yes, it’s her.
  30. Who among us has not wanted to smash a sacred crystal?
  31. I never feel more alienated from the culture than when a blond man is exalted as super hot.
  32. Sorry, “What is butt stuff?”
  33. Asked by an adult?
  34. Goat yoga!
  35. Hijinks ensue!
  36. How did we graduate to female fight club already?
  37. “Spas don’t work”? Skill issue, sorry.
  38. Someone in this theater just said “Ew” audibly at a pube joke.
  39. Valid!
  40. There’s only one car charger at the spa?
  41. Really?
  42. Aw, I do kind of like Michelle Buteau’s ex.
  43. Calling bullshit on this whole orgasmic-hand-massage sequence.
  44. I live in LA! I’m familiar with these things!
  45. Good for Leslie Mann for getting her groove back, though.
  46. Wow! Spa job for Anna Faris!
  47. If this spa is real, this film is excellent spon for it.
  48. Hey, I know that was an old-person joke, but I also like to take long walks at the mall because it’s super flat.
  49. A major heatwave-exercise hack of mine, in fact!
  50. Don’t say I never gave you anything.
  51. Male stripper dance sequence?
  52. What the hell, sure.
  53. Ugh, I want better for Michelle Buteau.
  54. Aw, girlypop fight.
  55. In jail, by rhe way!
  56. Isla Fisher sacrificing for the greater good! We love to see it.
  57. Next spa weekend…in Monte Carlo? I fear I’ll watch.
