The sons of two of India’s most celebrated cricketers will share an India Under-19 dressing room after Aaryavir Sehwag and Anvay Dravid were named in the squad for the upcoming Australia U19 series. The selections bring the next generation of the Sehwag and Dravid cricketing families together at the national youth level.

Aaryavir, son of former India opener Virender Sehwag, has been picked in the One-Day squad. Anvay, son of former India captain and head coach Rahul Dravid, has also made the 15-member One-Day team as a wicketkeeper-batter.

The Australia U19 tour will feature three One-Day matches and two multi-day fixtures. Rajkot will host all three One-Day games and the first multi-day fixture, while Ahmedabad will stage the second multi-day match.

Lakshya Raichandani will captain the One-Day side, with Yashbardhan Chauhan as his deputy. Chauhan will lead the multi-day team, with Raichandani serving as vice-captain.

HOW HAVE SEHWAG, DRAVID SONS PLAYED SO FAR?

Aaryavir has already produced a standout performance in Delhi age-group cricket. He smashed 297 off 309 balls for Delhi U19 against Meghalaya in the Cooch Behar Trophy in 2024, finishing just three runs short of a triple century. He also scored 496 runs in the 2025 edition of the tournament.

Anvay has also made his mark at India U19 level. The wicketkeeper-batter scored 87 off 67 balls against Sri Lanka U19 in July, helping India recover from 81/4 with a 145-run partnership with Arjun Rajput.

His domestic form had earned him that opportunity, with Anvay scoring 220 runs in six innings during the Vinoo Mankad Trophy.

While their surnames will naturally attract attention, both youngsters have already accumulated experience in age-group cricket before receiving this latest opportunity.

For Aaryavir and Anvay, the Australia assignment offers another significant step in their development.
