To cap off a completely enchanting night in honor of “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Vogue,” the most recent exhibition on the Metropolitan Museum of Artwork’s Costume Institute, Ariana Grande and her Depraved co-star Cynthia Erivo have been the shock performers on the 2024 Met Gala.
In entrance of the Temple of Dendur—amidst a lush, sylvian-inspired set conceived by Derek McKlane—Grande kicked off Monday night time’s set solo, carrying bespoke Maison Margiela Artisanal by John Galliano. (It marked a dramatic change from her look on the crimson carpet: a white Loewe costume with a prettily sculpted bodice.) Grande’s was a glance with layers: beneath an off-white spider-webbed crinoline, worn over a diaphanous organdy smock embroidered with lace and thread, was—shock!—a forest inexperienced draped tulle costume with rosettes, hand-sprayed gold mud, and crystal and mirror embroideries over a draped tulle skirt, a physique go well with, and a cincher in mushy pastels. On her toes, she wore customized hand-painted Tabis by Christian Louboutin for Maison Margiela. (Grande’s styling was by Mimi Cuttrell, her make-up by Michael Anthony, hair by Alyx Liu, and nails by Daniel Taverez for NailGlam manufacturing.)
