Mondal was reassigned to the Raiganj Police District, whereas Banerjee was transferred to the state CID

The West Bengal authorities on Friday eliminated two officers from the Basirhat police district, a day after TMC chief Shahjahan Sheikh, a key accused in sexual assault and land seize in Sandeshkhali, was arrested after being on the run for 55 days, an official stated.

The DSP of the Director of Intelligence Bureau (DIB), Sujit Kumar Mondal, and inspector Kajal Banerjee had been those faraway from their positions, he stated.

Mondal was reassigned to the Raiganj Police District, whereas Banerjee was transferred to the state CID. Rakesh Chatterjee, an inspector at Barrackpore Police District, changed Mondal, the official stated.

“Chatterjee will even supervise the Hingalganj police station and Hemnagar Cosas police station,” he stated. As well as, Raktim Chattopadhyay, who beforehand served because the circle inspector (CI) of Purba Bardhaman district, will change Banerjee.

The Sandeshkhali area, situated on the fringes of the Sunderbans, has been engulfed in turmoil for over a month on account of accusations in opposition to TMC chief Shahjahan Sheikh and his cohorts of sexual abuse and land usurpation.

The realm is below the jurisdiction of the Basirhat police district. Sheikh was arrested by police on Thursday after being on the run for 55 days.
