Bihar Floor Test, Nitish Kumar Latest News LIVE: In the 243-member Bihar Assembly, NDA has 128 MLAs and the Opposition’s grand alliance has 114. To achieve the majority mark, the Nitish government needs support of 122 MLAs

Bihar Floor Test LIVE Updates: To prove its majority in Bihar Assembly, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government is scheduled to face the floor test on Monday (January 12). On the eve of the crucial trust vote on Sunday, all political parties in the State remained busy trying to keep their flock together. Most legislators of the Opposition’s Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) have been camping at former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav’s residence since Saturday. However, in a cause of concern for the ruling JD-U, three of its legislators skipped a crucial meeting of party MLAs in Patna on Sunday evening. The party reportedly shifted most of its MLAs to a hotel near the legislature before the voting. Meanwhile, all eyes remain on former Bihar Chief Minister and founder of the Hindustani Awam Morcha-Secular (HAM-S), who has reportedly been offered the Chief Ministerial position by Mahagathbandhan, if he chooses to support the Opposition to form the government in Bihar.

In the 243-member Bihar Assembly, NDA has 128 MLAs– including 78 from the BJP, 45 from Janata Dal-United (JD-U), and four from the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular). Meanwhile, the Opposition’s grand alliance has 114 MLAs– including 79 from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), 19 from the Congress, and 16 from the Left parties. To achieve the majority mark, the Nitish government needs 122 MLAs.
