India’s campaign at the Commonwealth Games 2026 continues on Friday, July 24, with medal opportunities in para powerlifting and action across gymnastics, swimming, lawn bowls and boxing in Glasgow.

This is India’s 19th appearance at the Commonwealth Games. Since 2002, India have finished inside the top five of the medal table at every edition. They have also won at least 50 medals in each of the last six Commonwealth Games, highlighting their consistency on the biggest stage.

Friday’s biggest medal hopes lie in para powerlifting. Ashok Kumar Malik, Parmjeet Kumar, Jaspreet Kaur, Suman Devi, Kasthuri Rajamani, Jhandu Kumar and Sudhir will all be in action across different weight categories as India look to add to their medal tally.

In lawn bowls, Rupa Rani Tirkey and Pinki will aim to continue their winning run after an impressive opening-day victory. They face South Africa’s Thabelo Muvhango and Jacqui van Rensburg in the women’s pairs sectional round 2 match.

Putul Sonowal will also be back in action after producing one of the biggest upsets of the opening day by defeating 2023 world champion Ryan Bester of Canada. The Indian takes on Falkland Islands’ Cecil Alexander in the men’s singles sectional round 2.

India’s gymnasts will begin their campaign with Tapeshwarnath Das, Swathish KP, Tapan Mohanty and Yogeshwar Singh competing in the men’s team and individual rounds. The quartet will also be in contention for the men’s team final later in the evening.

In the pool, para swimmer RVVBK Budigina will compete in the men’s 100m freestyle S13 heats before the final later in the night if he qualifies. Olympian Srihari Nataraj will begin his campaign in the men’s 50m backstroke heats and will look to book a place in the semifinals.

The boxing competition will also get underway for India, with Jadumani Singh taking on Scotland’s Aaron Cullen in the men’s 55kg Round of 32.

7:30 pm: Lawn Bowls – Rupa Rani Tirkey and Pinki vs South Africa’s Thabelo Muvhango and Jacqui van Rensburg in the women’s pairs sectional round 2.
