He was polled 3,85,829 votes with a vote share of fifty.11%. Congress chief Deepak Karma received 2,61,470 votes (33.96%) and was the runner-up. Kashyap defeated Karma by a margin of 1,24,359 votes. The whole variety of legitimate votes polled on this constituency was 7,69,913.
