For the primary time in 10 years, a child pygmy hippo has been born on the Attica Zoological Park. Zoo workers stated they have been ‘thrilled’ to welcome the delivery as a scarcity of male pygmy hippos in captivity make breeding efforts sophisticated. The uncommon male calf was born on 19 February 19 and joins his mother and father Lizzie and Jamal as the one pygmy hippos on the zoo. Native to western Africa, pygmy hippos are listed as an endangered species by the Worldwide Union for Conservation of Nature
