Lee Anderson has left the Conservatives for the Reform Social gathering and can sit as their sole MP.

The previous Tory deputy celebration chairman was suspended over his declare that Islamists had management of London mayor Sadiq Khan.

Mr Anderson is a former Labour councillor who labored for ex-MP Gloria de Piero, and was elected as a Conservative MP in 2019.

With a reference to former Tory MP Mark Reckless, who defected to UKIP, he advised the BBC political editor Chris Mason it could be “reckless” to name a by-election when a common election was looming.
